Organic Matters was an experimental exhibition that questioned the permanence of art. Working with natural dyes, plant fibers, and biodegradable materials sourced from Ibadan's famous markets, eight artists created works designed to transform over the exhibition's duration.
Visitors who returned multiple times witnessed colors shifting, textures evolving, and forms changing as natural processes took their course. The exhibition challenged Western notions of art preservation and invited reflection on impermanence, cycles, and the relationship between human creativity and natural forces.
Documentation of the works' transformation became as important as the initial pieces, with time-lapse photography capturing weeks of subtle change.
“A meditative experience that redefines what it means to own—and lose—a work of art.”
